LE SENTIER DE LA FONTAINE DE PICHAROT
Just south of Toulouse, in the rolling foothills of the Ariege, pretty villages such as Sieuras dot the landscape. With fine views to the Pyrenees, stretching along a ridge commanding the local countryside, Sieuras also boasts a water source cave and oak woodland full of wildlife. Le Sentier de la Fontaine de Picharot was created in 2015. A 5km circular walk that encompasses the village, L'Oustal chambres d'hotes, woodland, rare marshland and with splendid views of the high mountains. Combine a walk with a Sunday lunch at the Auberge de Fontescut to 'discover local cuisine du marché in a warm and friendly atmosphere'.

There is a shorter 'Sentier de Decouverte' around the village, funded by the EU that explains the recent agricultural history & use of the land and the flora/fauna to be observed along the path. This pictureque short-walk includes the Fontaine de Fontescut with an adjacent picnic area.
Work is nearly complete on a footpath connecting Sieuras to Castex, le Courtal Gite and eventually to Carla Bayle.
